Heavensgate.com is full of apocalyptic themes found in the Book of Revelation. The group has a similar view of human society and government;
"The dominant governments of the world, especially that of the United States, have become totally corrupt. If a citizen even tries to keep informed about this corruption, let alone speak out or take a stand against it, he opens himself up, at the very least, to scrutiny and invasion of privacy, such as phone taps and surveillance"
The members of Heaven’s Gate, who planned to escape this terrible world and return to “the Next Level”, felt that they were being oppressed. Except, while the ancient Christian perception of oppression was based on instances of torture and death by the Roman authorities, Heaven’s Gate faced ridicule, loss of privacy, and single family oriented zoning restrictions, which forced them to move away from society. But their struggle is nonetheless cosmically significant, promising salvation through evolution into a more sophisticated dimension. “The Evolutionary Level Above Human” is the promised Kingdom of God and the reward for the faithful.
The members of Heaven’s Gate had to constantly “compromise their Next Level principles” which, as we saw with Revelation, corrupt one’s faith. The conformist is sided with the evil world and the Satanic forces. The only way to achieve salvation, or I guess evolution, is to be an active “student” of the representative of the TELAH.
"If we do not conform, then friction and potential conflict occurs. This is one reason we choose to stick to ourselves and live a cloistered lifestyle. We have, through Do (our Older Member), a very active and current means of communication with the Next Level, through Ti (Do's Older Member)"
According to Do, in order to ascend to the Next Level, one must endure many hardships on earth, but they are secure in knowing that they have knowledge of the true God (or the supreme entity in the Next Level?) and will eventually be rewarded for their loyalty, while others who “turn against the Next Level when it is offered” are left behind.
Interestingly, Do understands the Satan figure of the Bible to represent the aliens that humans are familiar with. These “malevolent space aliens” have seduced human kind into idolatry with superhuman displays of advanced technology (see Rev. 13:13 on the ability for the Beast to perform miracles), and want to keep them from accessing TELAH. These “Luciferians” are also present in the world’s banks, which is why Heaven’s Gate only used cash. Satan’s Babylon is linked with human society, especially American society, which dulls humans into following the American Dream rather than giving themselves to the Next Level. His message is:
"If you have experienced some of what our "classroom" requires of us, you would know that these "presences" are real and that the Kingdom of God even permits them to "attack" us in order for us to learn their tricks and how to stay above them or conquer them"
People will experience oppression by the Luciferians; the faithful must stay strong. Do quotes Rev. 14:13, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord” (his version), to explain his, and his followers, ultimate expression of faith: “the shedding of your human body”.
Lastly, I am curious why the members of Heaven’s Gate chose to publish their “exit statements” and press releases on their website if they believed that a cycle was ending and earth was being “refurbished” for use by a new civilization. AND that the opportunity to exit had already passed.
“Planet earth is about to be recycled. Your only chance to survive or evacuate is to leave with us”
